Pinoy Exchange is a Filipino online message board community founded by Dr. Michael Nolledo a.k.a. “batanguliran” with help from close family members on July 12, 1999. As of December 10, 2007, PEX has over 22,616,578 posts made by 233,031 members, making it the largest message board in the country by far.

PEX was originally conceptualized by the New Jersey-based Dr. Michael Nolledo as an outlet for Filipinos to discuss and debate local issues. Hindered by geographical limitations, Michael enlisted the help of his brother Nix Nolledo a.k.a. Nix, his brother-in-law Marco Lucena a.k.a. marco (who was later replaced by Michael Palacios a.k.a. Mikoid as lead designer and technical consultant), and most importantly his nephew Jude Turcuato a.k.a. Kaboom! who helped generate interest by plugging the forum during televised UAAP basketball games in which he worked as a commentator.

Although the forum reached 2,000 members before the turn of the century it was not until Sprite’s 2001 ad campaign that PEX enjoyed its highest exposure. As a result of the rapid increase in traffic, PEX upgraded its dated, CGI-based Ultimate Bulletin Board software to the more robust PHP-powered VBulletin and introduced “Premium Packages” in which subscribers gain added features.

The best forum community so far as they got this:

Currently Active Users: 1824 (638 members and 1186 guests) as of December 30, 2008

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 has already hit the stores just last month (Nov. 28, 2008), and it’s only now that I was able to make a review about it. Well, I have to apologize about it; even I have been longing to make a review about this Smartphone. Alright! Let’s get started(“,).

The Xperai X1 has been announced almost a year now and it’s one of the most anticipated Smartphone in the mobile market. This is the very first Smartphone by Sony Ericsson that uses a Windows Mobile Operating System 6.1 professional. As you take a good look at this phone, it’s well-designed, a unique look…and very “charismatic” as some says. It has an impressive arc slider design which is really cool and unique for me, nice-designed full QWERTY keypad that gives a comfortable and an excellent feel.

The X1 comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera and LED flash…I was hoping it has an 8 megapixel camera just like it’s friend the Sony Ericsson C905 which has an amazing 8 megapixel camera, anyway, it’s fine. The camera has a high resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels giving you a much clearer view and it has a 3 inch touch-screen display and fine dimensions of 110.5 x 52.6 x 17.0 mm.

It’s also packed with a 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and EDGE, A-GPS, Wi-Fi and of course Bluetooth. The phone also comes with an Internet Explorer browser as the default browse and an Opera Mobile browser which is considered to be user friendly. You won’t have any problem with its multimedia panel as it gives you ease and an excellent feel as you scroll down accessing your snapped photos, ground breaking list of music, memorable video clips, exciting and fun games, and contacts. Hmm…unfortunately it only has a 384 MB internal memory, though it allows extra memory storage with a use of microSD Card.

Other features:
Built-in GPS receiver
FM radio with RDS
Downloadable games
MP3, AAC, MPEG4 player
3.5 mm audiojack
Picture editor and blogging
Secondary video call camera
Autofocus and flash
Video (VGA 30 fps)
Organiser
Track ID music recognition
Pocket office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF viewer and OneNote)
RSS feeds is present to keep us always updated

10. Write at least five major “pillar” articles. A pillar article is a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good “how-to” lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn’t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.

You don”t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need a easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that’’s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you’ve done a good job!).

I made a list of popular .edu blogs of the year. You can get more good post and informative article to this websites.  Search it to the search engines you’ll find them on the top 10.
Here is my list:

  1. http://cyberlaw.stanford.edu/blogs/ – about cyber law.
  2. http://www.centenary.edu/blogs
  3. http://www.buffalo.edu/gobulls
  4. http://news.uns.purdue.edu -news blog
  5. http://calendar.csmd.edu

I guess this is a good time to update the list. I’ve opened comments on this post. Please list any ed-tech bloggers that you feel should be added to the list (include name, position (if interested), and blogger urls).

Search engines are known for collecting information and using that information to rank certain sites higher than others. When they find a link on a high rated site, that link will be valued higher than if the same exact link was found on a lower ranked site. Links from sites with a .gov or .edu suffix are considered trusted and authority sites and are considered very valuable. Also, links that come from high ranked PageRank sites come with high value.

Though most SEOs know this, you do still read the occasional naysayer. There are even one or two very prominent industry stars that insist they are no more valuable than any other link. This is really just not true. If you run a test on 2 sites, and add .edu links to #1, and standard links to #2, you definitely will find site #1 to rank higher. At Edutextlink.com we have tested this, and we see very regular evidence that they .edu links are taken more seriously by search engines.

If you do any random search, you will very often see .edu and .gov sites ranking in the top 10, even when they are not the most relevant, or even when they are outdated. This is more proof that they are not treated the same as a .com or .net.

When you think about .edu links and what makes them rank higher, the answer is clear. If a new university were to open tomorrow, links from that site likely wouldn’t have much weight or value. But most of the .edu sites are very mature, huge, trusted sites that are full of information. And they have tens of thousands of inbound links and high PR. This is why the search engines are placing a weightier value on these links.
