Even more sad Christmas news: CNN has reported that the singer and actress Eartha Kitt passed away today. She was 81.

Kitt was a woman of many talents, with her song “Santa Baby” getting gold last week. But perhaps she was most admired by the comic-reading set for her purring portrayal of Catwoman on the 1960s Adam West “Batman” television show.

This unique and great star died at the age of 81. It’s somehow fitting that she would pass on Christmas Day since one of her greatest legacies (besides Catwoman on the old “Batman” TV series) is the song “Santa Baby.” No one sang it as great as Eartha Kitt which you can see in this video, shot just two years ago.
